Detection of coliform bacteria, total plate count and pH value in chicken eggs from Maros traditional market

Abstract Indonesian consumers generally buy chicken eggs in traditional markets. Mostly, the markets were less clean places, making it easier for bacterial contamination to commodity. The purpose of this study was determine presence Coliform bacteria, Total Plate Count (TPC) and pH value from traders Maros regency. Chicken egg samples obtained 3 Regency, each sellers replications. number coliform bacteria determined using Brilliance Agar media while TPC Agar. measured a meter. research method used pour plate count then analyzed descriptively presented tabular form. analysis variance further test least significant difference. Based on SNI-3926-2008 regarding microbiological quality requirements fresh eggs, all met standard, with 1.1×10 1 2.3×10 4 , respectively. still normal range an average 7.1 although type market affects eggs. All studied based categorized as safe consumption.
